Houston Medicine
is Baylor Medicine

The world comes to the Texas Medical Center for top-quality patient care. And that means they’re coming to Baylor.

Created in 1945, today the Texas Medical Center (TMC) in Houston is home to more than 50 medical institutions, including 21 hospitals, four medical schools and eight academic research institutions, making it the largest concentration of hospitals and healthcare services anywhere in the world. More heart surgeries are performed there than anywhere else in the world, 25,000 babies are delivered there each year and there are more than 8 million patient visits annually.

At the heart of it all is Baylor College of Medicine. Since moving into the first building completed in the TMC in 1947, Baylor has been a leader in research, education, community outreach and patient care. Today, Baylor physicians care for more patients admitted to Texas Medical Center hospitals than any other physician group.

In fact, whether you’re visiting Texas Children’s Hospital, one of the top pediatric hospitals in America …

… or Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, internationally recognized as a leader in research and clinical excellence …

… or the Menninger Clinic, a global leader in the treatment of serious mental illness …

… or another TMC partner facility, chances are good that at some point during your visit, you’ll be seen and treated by a Baylor-affiliated doctor.

While Baylor doctors are in many ways the smiling face of the Texas Medical Center, there are a lot of things that go into making world-leading patient care possible that most people never see.

For example, Baylor is nationally ranked among the top 20 institutions for education and research programs. We’re not only preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders for the TMC, Texas and the world but — through our partnerships with the Houston Independent School District and other districts around Texas — we’re helping inspire subsequent generations, today’s middle and high schoolers, to become leaders, too!

And because Baylor is the single largest recipient of National Institutes of Health (NIH) research grants in the Texas Medical Center, our patient-focused research is helping define the future of healthcare, unlock the secrets of the most dangerous and challenging medical conditions and create tomorrow’s medicine today.

But even with generous grants from NIH and other funding sources, as a nonprofit organization, the foundation of Baylor’s success in bringing hope and healing to our patients is the generous philanthropy of donors in Houston, across the country and around the world. Our commitment to world-leading patient care draws strength from their commitment to us, and for that we are deeply grateful.

We invite you to become one of the generous donors who are helping shape the future of patient care for Texas and the world by giving to Baylor College of Medicine. . We would welcome your generous support.
