Humanities Expression and Arts Lab (HEAL)

Patients need physicians and other healthcare professionals who have mastered both the science and the art of medicine. We started HEAL with the goal of helping healthcare professionals become healers by teaching them to look deeply, listen actively, and communicate compassionately. We believe that immersion in the arts and humanities can teach these skills. Previous arts and humanities activities have included writing workshops, art museum visits, storytelling events, and speaking engagements by award-winning authors like Abraham Verghese. Your generous donation will fund high-quality arts and humanities programs for medical students, residents, faculty, staff, and the Texas Medical Center community.
