Mark M. Udden, M.D., Res. ’80, Fel. ’82 is being honored by Baylor College of Medicine as this year’s Distinguished Faculty Award recipient. Baylor’s annual Alumni Awards program recognizes alumni and faculty for excellence in research, teaching and patient care.

As part of the awards program, our honorees identify an area of the College they would like to highlight for support. Dr. Mark M. Udden, professor of Hematology and Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine, is a leading expert in hematology, specializing in biorheology and sickle cell disease. An MIT graduate, he earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern in 1977 and completed his residency and fellowship at Baylor, where he has served for over 40 years. Dr. Udden has directed the Internal Medicine Core Clerkship for 17 years and co-directed the Hematology Pathophysiology Course. He also chaired the ABIM Hematology Board, advancing certification processes and developing assessments for hematologists.
